The Minister of Foreign Affairs heads the delegation of the State of Kuwait in the work of the ninth session of the Kuwaiti-Omani Joint Committee, which holds its work in Muscat
Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah headed the delegation of the State of Kuwait in the work of the ninth session of the Kuwaiti-Omani Joint Committee, which will hold its work during the period from March 11 to 12 in the Omani capital Muscat, while the Omani side was headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al-Busaidi.
The holding of the work of the Joint Higher Committee between the two brotherly countries at its ninth session is considered a continuation of the achievements and positive results achieved by previous sessions and enhancing the depth of the deep and solid brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries.
The committee's work witnessed a review of all vital and important areas of cooperation between the two sides, especially economic, development, cultural and environmental ones, and discussed ways to enhance them and take them to new horizons for close cooperation and integration between the two brotherly countries, reflecting the common desire to develop and consolidate bilateral relations between them at all levels.
The Kuwaiti-Omani Joint Commission also constitutes a model and satisfaction for strong and solid bilateral relations and a dedication to the close and well-established ties that bring together the two brotherly countries and contribute to achieving the progress and prosperity that everyone aspires to for the two brotherly countries and peoples.
During the work of the session, joint official talks were held and all aspects of cooperation between all sectors in the two brotherly countries were reviewed. Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah began the meeting with a speech in which he reviewed the march of strong brotherly relations between the two brotherly countries, stressing that it is under the generous patronage of His Highness Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, may God protect him, the Emir of the State of Kuwait and his brother Sultan Haitham bin Tariq bin Taimur Al Said, Sultan of the brotherly Sultanate of Oman.
This was followed by a review of the work of the Joint Committee and the final decisions, recommendations, memorandums of understanding and executive programs reached by the various working groups. The work of the ninth session of the Kuwaiti-Omani Joint Committee resulted in reaching an agreement on 5 memorandums of understanding and executive programs that would contribute to opening wider horizons for cooperation and reflect the determination of the two brotherly countries to develop and consolidate bilateral relations in all fields and at various levels, namely:
1. Memorandum of Understanding in the field of diplomatic studies and training.
2. Memorandum of Understanding in the field of higher education.
3. Memorandum of Understanding in the field of competition protection and antitrust.
4. Executive Program for Cooperation in the Field of Environmental Protection for the period 2021-2024.
5. Executive Program for Cooperation in the Field of Industrial Export Development for the period from 2023-2025.
The two foreign ministers then signed the final minutes of the session, which was signed by Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the Kuwaiti side and by the Omani side by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

At the beginning of our meeting, as we meet in the beautiful city of Muscat, I am pleased to express, in my name and on behalf of all members of the delegation of the State of Kuwait participating in the work of the ninth session of the Joint Higher Committee between the State of Kuwait and the Sultanate of Oman, my deep thanks and gratitude for the hospitality and good reception and for the distinguished arrangements for this meeting. Kuwaiti-Omani relations are strong and deep-rooted relations at all levels and are truly considered a model in relations between countries and peoples. The State of Kuwait is linked with the brotherly Sultanate of Oman with relations of distinct speciality that carry common features based on the unity of common destiny, goal and identical visions. The two countries seek to achieve integration and interdependence in all vital fields that achieve the hopes and aspirations of their peoples. These relations reflect the determination of the wise leaders of the two countries to push and raise them to higher and more integrated levels.
His Excellency the dear brother Badr bin Hamad bin Hamoud Al Busaidi,,
Our relations, thank God, witness a consensus and conformity in visions on many international and regional issues and files. Allow me in this regard to express my pride in the levels of cooperation between our two countries and peoples and at the bilateral level. The State of Kuwait and the brotherly Sultanate of Oman are linked to many agreements and memorandums of understanding in various fields, especially cultural, artistic, economic and commercial relations that contributed to increasing the volume of investments and trade exchange between the two countries to advanced levels.
The distinguished relationship between the two countries also resulted in the establishment of the Joint Higher Committee between the Government of the two brotherly countries on December 17, 2003 in the State of Kuwait and held (8) meetings to date, the latest of which was the eighth session, which was held in the State of Kuwait during the period 6-7 June 2017.
The number of agreements signed between the two countries (27) agreements since 1974 until 2017 covered various fields and today we have a number of draft memorandums of understanding (3) and the number of executive programs (2) that will be signed during this session. The following areas include (diplomatic studies and training - higher education - competition protection and antitrust prevention - industrial export development - environmental protection).
In the field of higher education between the two brotherly countries and in order to achieve fruitful cooperation with the brotherly Sultanate of Oman, the cooperation agreement in the field of higher education will be renewed. Kuwait University has allocated for the academic year (2022/2023) a number of (25) scholarships for Omani students, while the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training for the academic year (2022/2023) has allocated (12) seats.
Needless to say, the role of the Kuwaiti private sector in the economy of the brotherly Sultanate of Oman, investments and the volume of trade exchange, as the projects of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development reached (23) projects, which in turn reflects the nature of relations and the promising investment climate.
The volume of investment in the Oman Fixed Income Fund amounted to approximately eight million Kuwaiti dinars, in addition to the distinguished strategic partnership between the two brotherly countries in the Economic Zone at Duqm, in which the volume of investments amounted to more than 15 billion dollars.
The volume of trade exchange between the two countries has reached more than one hundred and five million Kuwaiti dinars, looking forward to strengthening this cooperation in a way that reflects the capabilities and capabilities of the two brotherly countries.
