At the joint invitation of His Excellency Mr. Nikola Silakovic, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, and His Excellency Mr. Jehon Bayramov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan. His Excellency delivered a speech during the meeting, the text of which was as follows: “In the name of God, the most gracious, the most merciful Your Excellency President Aleksandar Vucic, President of the Republic of Serbia, Co-Chair of the High-level Commemorative Meeting on the occasion of the Sixtieth Anniversary of the First Conference of Non-Aligned Countries, Your Excellency Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the current session of the Non-Aligned Movement, Your Highnesses and Excellences, Ladies and Gentlemen, Peace, mercy and blessings of God, At the onset, I would like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to the Republic of Serbia for hosting this special meeting of the Movement of Non-Aligned Countries, and for the warm reception and hospitality, and the excellent preparation and organization of this meeting under exceptional times and circumstances. Mr. president, As we gather today to celebrate the sixtieth anniversary of the movement's first meeting, what this anniversary represents is an opportunity to stand with oneself to study and discuss the achievements we have achieved together and the challenges we have also faced, some of which may be considered existential for the Non-Aligned Movement, and perhaps the most severe is the change in the balance of power in the aftermath of the Cold War 30 years ago, which required more determination and effort from us to realize our hopes and adhere to our aspirations in steadfastness on the purposes and objectives of the Non-Aligned Movement. We appreciate the pivotal role played by the founders sixty years ago in contributing to achieving balance on the international scene, by adopting the Ten Principles of the Bandung Conference, which are based on what is generally accepted in the nature of relations between states and also contained in the Charter of the United Nations, including respect for the sovereignty of states and non-violence, and non-Interfering in its internal affairs and giving priority to peaceful solutions to inter-state conflicts. In this context, the State of Kuwait reiterates the importance of continuing to strengthen international cooperation and strengthening multilateralism, as it is the most effective and optimal means for the obstacles and crises we are facing, and an indispensable basis for promoting economic development and social progress, and achieving international peace and security. Mr. president, After more than a year and ten months of the Corona Virus pandemic, which swept the whole world, this pandemic was characterized by its strength and ferocity in causing harm and claiming human lives, and influencing all patterns of daily life in its various aspects and dealing with its effects and repercussions. Here we must commend the important, active and constructive role played by the Republic of Azerbaijan, the current head of our movement, in convening two important meetings, the first virtual summit in May 2020 "United against COVID-19", and the second for the 31st special session of the United Nations General Assembly in last December, the importance of the discussions and fruitful outcomes discussed in the two meetings and a call for more synergy, solidarity and coordination among the member states of the movement to confront this pandemic now, and to strengthen the elements of collective immunization between states in the future. Mr. president, With regard to our first central issue, the Palestinian issue, the dangerous security, economic, social and humanitarian conditions that the brotherly Palestinian people have been going through daily for more than 73 years are the result of Israel, the occupying power, and its persistence in its settlement and expansionist policies and its desecration of the sanctity of holy places, in a flagrant violation of international law and all human norms and values before the eyes and ears of the world and with a complete absence of the global conscience. In order to end the occupation, we must reach a just and comprehensive solution and establish an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Finally, Mr. President, Six decades have passed since the birth of the Non-Aligned Movement and its lofty goals and principles firmly rooted in international law, and as the State of Kuwait renews its commitment to these goals and principles, it calls on all member states to do everything necessary to enhance the role of the movement and transfer it from a dream to established behavior . Peace, mercy and blessings of God”
