Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah headed Thursday the Kuwaiti delegation in the ministerial meeting of the international coalition to defeat IS, in the Saudi capital Riyadh. During his speech at the meeting, Sheikh Salem noted that the coalition is facing great challenges that the international community awaits which monitors and evaluates the countries'' commitment and seriousness in the campaign against terrorism. Sheikh Salem also touched on the vital role played by Kuwait in transferring the families of foreign terrorist fighters from those languishing in the Syrian camps, adding that it reflects sublime humanitarian meanings and international cooperation with friendly countries. Kuwait, along with the US, contributed to the transfer of 667 fighters and their families from 13 countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Caribbean, from September 2019 to this day, he added. Moreover, Sheikh Salem appreciated the efforts made by the International Coalition Secretariat and the work team that prepared for this meeting. Sheikh Salem also went on thanking the Kingdom for hosting this gathering and for its joint invitation with the US to take part in this highly needed meeting.
Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber AlSabah represented his country at the ministerial meeting of the GCC-US Strategic Partnership, held at the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh on Wednesday. The meeting, which also gathered US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, reviewed various aspects of cooperation with emphasis on the political and security relations. Both sides discussed the outcomes of the joint ad hoc committees and the efforts to deepen the exemplary relations. They explored ways to tap into the promising opportunity in different areas of cooperation to realize the joint aspirations and serve the common interest. On regional issues, both sides mulled over ways to stabilize Syria, Yemen and Sudan as well as the latest developments of the situation in Iran. They stressed the need to double efforts for reaching a durable solution to the PalestinianIsraeli conflict, which could contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East. During the meeting, Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the US commitment to maintain the security and stability of the GCC countries and strengthen the strategic partnership with them.

He conveyed appreciation of Turkiye to the Kuwaiti leadership's congratulation to Turkiye and its people on this occasion, considering these good sentiments embody clearly brotherhood and love between the two countries and their peoples. Fidan said that Turkiye looks forward to working with Kuwait to enhance bilateral ties and cooperation between the two friendly states in a way that achieves visions of the two countries' leaderships and meets their peoples' aspirations.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah met on Monday with US Commander of the Naval Forces, Central Command, Commander of the Fifth Fleet, Admiral Brad Cooper. During the talks, both sides touched on the distinguished ties between Kuwait and the US as well as boosting cooperation in naval security. Sheikh Salem stressed the importance of enhancing the security of waterways and ensuring the freedom, safety and movement of navigation in the Gulf region. In turn, the US official hailed the bilateral ties between Kuwait and the US, thanking the Kuwaiti leadership, government and people for hosting the American armed forces on its territory.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Salem Al-Sabah received on Sunday the United Nations' (UN) coordinator for the Black Sea Grain Initiative, Abdullah Abdulsamad Dashti, discussing the latest on the deal that allows the safe export of grain from Ukrainian ports. Kuwait firmly supports any measure that seeks to protect global food security, in addition to efforts aiming to find a definitive solution to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, the foreign minister underlined.

On behalf of the Kuwaiti people and government, Sheikh Salem Abdullah congratulated President Erdogan on his recent reelection, wishing him everlasting wellbeing and friendly Turkiye more progress and prosperity. Representative of His Highness the Amir also attended a dinner banquet hosted by the Turkish leader for the high-level officials in attendance at the ceremony.
