Kuwait FM takes part in Global Coalition to ...

Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah headed Thursday the Kuwaiti delegation in the ministerial meeting of the international coalition to defeat IS, in the Saudi capital Riyadh. During his speech at the meeting, Sheikh Salem noted that the coalition is facing great challenges that the international community awaits which monitors and evaluates the countries'' commitment and seriousness in the campaign against terrorism. Sheikh Salem also touched on the vital role played by Kuwait in transferring the families of foreign terrorist fighters from those languishing in the Syrian camps, adding that it reflects sublime humanitarian meanings and international cooperation with friendly countries. Kuwait, along with the US, contributed to the transfer of 667 fighters and their families from 13 countries in Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Caribbean, from September 2019 to this day, he added. Moreover, Sheikh Salem appreciated the efforts made by the International Coalition Secretariat and the work team that prepared for this meeting. Sheikh Salem also went on thanking the Kingdom for hosting this gathering and for its joint invitation with the US to take part in this highly needed meeting.

Sheikh Salem Abdullah leads Kuwait's delegation to GCC-US ...

Kuwait's Foreign Minister Sheikh Salem Abdullah Al-Jaber AlSabah represented his country at the ministerial meeting of the GCC-US Strategic Partnership, held at the GCC Secretariat in Riyadh on Wednesday. The meeting, which also gathered US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Oman, reviewed various aspects of cooperation with emphasis on the political and security relations. Both sides discussed the outcomes of the joint ad hoc committees and the efforts to deepen the exemplary relations. They explored ways to tap into the promising opportunity in different areas of cooperation to realize the joint aspirations and serve the common interest. On regional issues, both sides mulled over ways to stabilize Syria, Yemen and Sudan as well as the latest developments of the situation in Iran. They stressed the need to double efforts for reaching a durable solution to the PalestinianIsraeli conflict, which could contribute to peace, stability and prosperity in the Middle East. During the meeting, Secretary Blinken reaffirmed the US commitment to maintain the security and stability of the GCC countries and strengthen the strategic partnership with them.
